HealthExecNews recently released its list of the 25 most beautiful hospitals in the world, highlighting facilities across four continents and 11 countries.

For the list, the magazine considered interior and exterior aesthetic features, as well as features and qualities that promote patient healing. UPMC Hamot Women’s Hospital was named #6. For more information click the link below.

Rectenwald Architects, Inc. is showcased in the May 2011 issue of Healthcare Design Magazine, a national healthcare publication for owners, architects and designers, for its work on the UPMC Hamot Women’s Hospital in Erie, PA. The project consisted of development of a three-story, 69,900 s.f. vertical expansion to the existing two-story Resource Center Building to compliment the adjacent Heart Institute building on the medical campus. HARLEY DAVIDSON of ERIE

Harley Davidson of Erie out grew their existing building and approached Rectenwald Architects to assist them with developing a plan for a new location. RAI created a plan to convert and existing 59,000 sf grocery store facility into their new
dealership. The new plans include a 12,000 sf motorcycle showroom with space for more bikes and merchandise than the previous facility. A state of the art service area allows for onsite maintenance providing riders with added convenience.

The Harley Owners Group 2,000 sf meeting room permits for activities, group meetings and community groups to utilize the facility in more versatile ways. The size of the existing facility also allowed for the addition of an off-season storage area where owners can store their motorcycles in the 13,500 sf climate controlled storage area. PENNDOT was provided space within the building for their Motorcycle Safety Program. A 1,000 sf classroom space will allow for riders to learn about motorcycle safety before testing out the outdoor training course. Approximately 13,000 sf of leasable storefront space is available for the additional tenants.

LOCAL ARCHITECT COMPLETES NATIONAL LICENSURE EXAM

R.Jason Wieczorek, an associate at Rectenwald Architects, Inc., recently passed the seventh and final division of the Architectural Registration Examination (ARE), allowing him to be licensed in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Developed by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB), the ARE concentrates on those services that safeguard public health, safety, and welfare – including Site Planning and Design, Building Design and Construction, Structural Systems and Schematic Design.

“It is vitally important that our architects continue to advance their knowledge, expertise and qualifications,” said Ross Rectenwald, AIA President of Rectenwald Architects, Inc. “Jason exemplifies the commitment of our firm to provide the region with safe, superior architectural planning and design services.”

A LEED accredited professional (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), Wieczorek joined Rectenwald Architects, Inc. in June 2005. He earned his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Kent State University, College of Architecture and Environmental Design. His project experience varies in scale and complexity with an emphasis on higher education, healthcare and commercial building design. He currently serves as President of Young Erie Professionals and Board President of the Salvation Army – Erie.
